“Greetings earthlings”… Dave had to work a 20 hour shift yesterday, (that’s just crazy),
but his job was an electrical shut down and had to be finished. For those
of you who don’t know my husband Dave, his trade is an electrician. A very dangerous
and labor intensive profession. It’s a good trade to be in because there is always
electrical work to be done, but you got to like to work hard and get dirty, well I don't
know about the dirty part?… any ways yesterday I spent most of the day working in
my studio. So, before I really take off I wanted to post a couple of new items;
Miss Ruby Red LuLu…. And a ..... Mason jar leaf pendant. I found this glass in an
old bottle dump; I think late 1800’s, while out hiking in Mendon Ponds, NY.
I’ll let you design around this one. I also made another recycled glass
necklace, that I might put up here, but might call it a keeper for me...hmmmm?

Thanks for checking in ~ Enjoy your day, Nance

“Greetings”….My kiln is full of interesting beads right now. They are being
kiln annealed as I write this. What’s “cookin” in the kiln are a couple of focal
beads made from the glass I found at an old farmers dump in Mendon Ponds,
NY…..hmmm, should be interesting to see how they come out. For one of the
focal beads, I used a deep purple glass, almost looked black, the other
was the Mason jar glass that I have posted below. I also have Miss Ruby
July LuLu coming to life soon … and last, but not least I put together some
more Mason jar peeper keepers, those will be taking a trip to Cuba Lake on July 3rd.

Other than that I am crazy busy around here,…Dave’s projects, Mom’s
coming in June 30th from TN to spend 3 weeks with us. So, it might be
a little quite around here for awhile. If you have any requests, questions,
or just want to chat please feel to call or drop me a line at

June 25th……2008  early, early am

“Hi” I’m up early this am because I wanted to finish posting my newest endeavors …

“Earrings” …..  “Necklaces”.

Tonight I need to concentrate my time on the torch. I have orders that I need to
complete and an experimental bead that is in the works (I hope I can make it
happen) I’ll tell you more about it 'after' I see how the results turn out.

Thank you for checking in ~ Take care, Nance

June 24th……2008  evening

“Hola”, this is going to be a quick update for tonight, the weather is fantastic

and I want to get outside to enjoy. Tonight I’m posting … three new pairs of
earrings and a necklace. I will be posting some more tomorrow....
~ See you soon, Nance

Hey there, how are ya? The Geneseo Art Stroll was a success! I thank all
of you for stopping by! It was really nice to meet new people as well.
Thank you for all of your interest and support with my lampwork beads
and jewelry.

Just finished up taking pictures of my newest creations. I have six new
pair of earrings, 2 necklaces and one Mason Jar peeper keepers
(eye glass holders). I’m behind the 8 ball tonight and Dave’s waiting
for me to have a glass of Chardonnay with him… now how can I resist
that? I’ll be back tomorrow with pics.
See you soon ~Thanks for coming by, Chow ~ Nance

When I got home from work yesterday evening I found Dave working on my
computer hard drive, cover off….”EGADS”….mind you, this is a guy who
claims computers are the work of the devil and he doesn’t even know how
to turn it on! Well, he fixed it, ha! Go figure??? I’m a happy bead geek!

I’m in the mist of getting ready for the Geneseo, NY Art stroll tomorrow
evening, June 20th, which runs 5:00pm to 8:00pm. I found out my selling
area is in front of the “Geneseo Store”…and I’m next to a band that will
be playing all night long. Is that a good thing or bad thing? I’ll let ya know.

I received another order of new glass the other day. The colors are
gorgeous in this batch!!! An odd lot of hand pulled light green glass,
pastel robin egg blue, dark Alabaster pink, and a transparent light pink.
I made some new beads last night and tonight I’m putting them together.
Sadly, I’m crunched for time right now and won’t be able to post anything
new until Sunday or Monday. Have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see
you soon. Thank you for swinging by ~ Nance

Last night I went to update my website and my computer would not turn on….
I think it has something to do with a thunder storm and power outage we had
the night before. “Drats”.  What is my next move??? Take my hard drive in for
repair, buy a new one? I won’t be around here much until I can figure this
computer problem out…. For those of you who placed an order, I haven’t
forgotten, I’m working behind the scene.  As soon as I can get back up and
running, I’ll be able to send out emails again.…Hope to see you soon,
Thanks for stopping by ~ Nance

June 13th……2008  evening

Just got home and found a package at my front door.

It’s a new shipment of glass called “ruby gold” that I recently ordered.

Believe it or not, this glass turns to a beautiful shade of pink,

depending on how you strike it in the flame. The last shipment of ruby gold

that I ordered was very difficult to work with. This past week I made five pink
beads and was able to match up one pair for earrings. Here is a picture of the
beads that didn’t match up. Hopefully the new ruby gold glass will be a little
more forgiving. We shall see… Have a wonderful weekend! ~

About a year ago, Dave and I discovered an old bottle dump in Mendon Ponds Park,
NY. We found some really nice old milk bottles, Mason jars, perfume bottles, stuff
like that. I found one Mason jar that was busted, but the color of the glass was a
beautiful aqua ocean blue, that was a keeper. This past weekend I took that old
broken Mason jar, cleaned it up and broke it into small shards so I could work
with it in my torch. It was a tricky glass to melt, much harder than the soda lime
glass that I’m use to working with, which reminded me of borosilicate glass.  I worked
only with the Mason jar glass; I didn’t want to mix it with any other glass because
of the CEO (coefficient of expansion). From the Mason jar beads I put together 3

pair of earrings called  ...  “Ocean Flips”, “Ocean bubbles”, and “Ocean pearls”

a bracelet called ...  “Ocean Pearl bracelet”

and a necklace named ...  “Masons Flipper"
Here is a picture of the jar before it turned into beads...sorry Mr. Mason....

Have a good one, and I’ll see you soon ~ Nance

Distractions…

Or side tracked, do you have those moments? Mine started out focused
on today’s goals: exercise, run errands, studio time…. Here’s how it has
gone so far, 6:30am; no coffee in the house, went to the store, decided
to pick up some extra stuff, got home, had coffee, paid the stucco guy
(looks good) cleaned up the yard so Dave could mow the lawn, started
trimming trees, went over to a freshly plowed field and started to look
for Indian arrow heads, then started to look for rocks to paint on and
an old bottle dump…. Get a hold of your self Nance, ha! Here I am
‘finally’ and would like to post a new necklace (new focal bead design)
named…. “Violet”,
2 new bracelets called…. ”Vortex” and “Larimar Blue”
and a pair of earrings called… “Larimar Blue earrings”.

Have a wonderful weekend and Thank you for coming by ~ Nance

“G’day Mates”

Yesterday evening I went to take pictures of my latest creations, but

my camera informed me to recharge.  That I did, and will be posting

some new digs tomorrow. Speaking of posting, I’m going to send out

an email letting you know when something new is up….Sound good?

Drop me a line if you would like to be on my emailing list….or not;

nanceonfire@rochester.rr.com

My torch was disconnected for a few days so we could have our

exterior basement wall stucco-ed. Now that the job is completed,

I plan on spending a lot of time on my torch this weekend.  My

basement is fairly cool so it will feel good to work in my studio,

away from the heat wave that we are experiencing in and around
Rocha cha and Upstate, NY.

Not much going on here…

But, a lot going on out there. If I can’t get here to update I get all twitchy
and creatively deprived. I was away all last weekend, so I wasn’t able
to work in my studio. I’m hoping tonight I can finish up some projects
that I started! I’m in the process of getting ready for an “Art Stroll”
on June 20th, in Geneseo, NY, 5:00pm – 8:00pm. I’ll have a table set
up on the street selling my Nance On Fire wares, look for my little
beady head bobbing around, ha! Hopefully I should be back here soon.
Thanks for stopping by! Bead Geek signing off ~ Nance

Better late than never….

Last night I took Buzz (our dog) out for a fast 3 mile walk, then grocery
shopped did laundry and all that other good stuff. The walk felt great,
Buzz and I were exhausted and I never did get to update my site last
night…

Tonight I’m posting 2 new pairs of earrings called … “Earthen”, and “Dancin Till Dawn”.

And 2 new necklaces called … “Fiesta” and “Dancin Till Dawn”.

More to come, but need to finish up the fine details. I find designing
jewelry is some what like painting a picture. I like to start it, then stop
and study, come back, design some more, ect. Designing a piece of
jewelry can take a lot longer than actually creating the bead. I still
need to take some pictures of my favorite tools that I use to make
the beads!

One last thing, here is a picture of one of our new projects that Dave and I
have been working on. We are in the process of fixing up our camper.
Our little home away from home. We call this the “Cedar room”. All paneled
with fresh cedar, smells good too. Thank you for stopping by, see you soon ~ Nance

Hi ya! I hope 'ya all' had a good weekend...back to reality, hu? I have some
new digs coming up later on tonight... after I take Buzz (our doggin) out
for a good long walk, he's giving me the "sad dog eyes look", how can I
ignore that? Got to run for now, see you later....

G’ day mate…

Right now I’m in Australia teaching a bead making class…. Yeah, right, I wish!

Actually I made one bead at the torch yesterday, and then sat there and
pondered what to do next. My thoughts weren’t organized for bead making
so I decided to move over to my design table (which looks like a bomb went
off on it). I proceeded to finish a “Throw me a Bone” necklace, requested

from my brother Craig, I gave it an earthy, manly look (I’ll try to get a picture

taken to show you)..... here it is.
Any ways, the phone started to ring, and after 4 phone conversations I had to
move on to dinner. I’m sorry to say I don’t have anything new to post, lots in the
works thou. I won't be able to update this weekend, but promise to fill you in
